Happy New Year! It is the salutation of the season. Many of us are writing resolutions to accompany that wish, defining what will make us happy in the coming year—finding purpose in our work, living healthy, honoring our relationships with more love and attention. We look to the future and set goals to reach happiness, to achieve our Happy New Year.
But what if we knew, with our whole heart, that we are already happy, that we don’t have to look forward, we just have to look inside. What if we could shed our fears and doubts, simply stop resisting, and know happiness right now.
This morning I was grumbling because it was so cold. Then it started to snow. Would it keep snowing and make it difficult to get around in my car? I let go of that thought and just watched it snow. Then I remembered catching snowflakes on my tongue when I was a child and delight welled up inside of me. The sun came out and every snowflake glistened and sparkled. What beauty. I knew that life could not get better than it was right then in that moment.
I believe that if I really could be present, fully alive in each moment, that I would be in joy and happiness all the time. That is a challenging task for us humans but my resolution for this year is to spend more time right here, in the now, letting my happiness bubble to the surface.
I wish the same for you in the New Year! I offer you this meditation as a gift that may assist you in being more present, in knowing the very truth of your own joy.
MEDITATION:
Close your eyes and follow your breath, in and out, for about two minutes. As you settle into stillness, hold one of the following thoughts in your awareness for about 10 minutes. If your mind wanders, just gently bring it back to the thought.
I honor my true nature and not the expectations of others.
I play like a child and laugh like a fool.
I love without judgment and live without fear.
I lead with my heart and not with my head.
During the meditation the thought may morph; it may shorten or take a new emphasis. It may become more experiential or sensory. Follow it. To return, refocus on your breath and gradually become more aware of your body and surroundings before opening your eyes.
MY NEWS:
Empowerment Coaching: I am very excited about my new offering. It involves a six session commitment to growth in spirit, love and power. We focus on releasing fears and judgments of self and others, knowing and trusting personal power, and moving energy to heal the energetic, emotional and physical body.
Pricing Experiment: During January I will offer Thrive Alignments for whatever amount you are able to pay. Thrive Alignments energetically release physical, emotional and thought patterns that no longer serve you thus allowing you to thrive with greater balance, awareness and alignment with your soul purpose.
Gatherings: I am considering two possible gatherings in the near future: Meeting and Honoring Your Chief Spirit Guide and Letting Go of Judgment: Is What We Believe Really True? Please let me know if you are interested in either of these gatherings.
Website: I mentioned in my last newsletter, that I would be starting a website and blog. I am still planning to do that (it’s one of those more traditional resolutions!) and hope to have it going in a month or two.
Happy New Year!
